"Do As I Say"

The title "Do As I Say", a documentary by Nick Tucker based on Peter Schweizer's book, strikes the postmodern Left's new tone to perfection. As they're shedding the last vestiges of liberalism, authoritarian "Shut Up" and "Nanny Knows Best" have become the dominant chord. But that's not the substance matter with which this movie deals. It's about hypocrisy. That's rive too.

The email before me proclaims:

New Film Exposes Al Gore Getting Rich off of Global Warming Scam

"Do As I Say proves that Al Gore is a phony and a fraud that does not practice what he preaches, as well as uncovering blatant hypocrisy and double standards of so many other leading liberals."

"This hip and hard-hitting documentary reveals that the two-faced mantra "do as I say, not as I do" has become the unwritten golden rule of liberal leaders who make their livings, and their fortunes, waging war against the very economic system that has allowed them to succeed beyond most peoples wildest dreams."

"Michael Moore, Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, Noam Chomsky, The Kennedys and George Soros all figure prominently in this uncompromising look at how some of our country’s most liberal leaders publicly deplore capitalism and oppose free enterprise, while privately amassing enormous entrepreneurial wealth."

"Al Gore parades around the globe condemning humans for causing global warming and destroying the earth. He chastises us for our way of life and demands that we reduce our "carbon footprint". All the while, he has amassed a fortune and been the beneficiary of his doom and gloom scare tactics."

"Al Gore refuses to do public interviews because he is unable to defend his positions and claims. Do As I Say exposes Al Gore as the fraud that he is and proves that the liberal environmental movement is a scam."

"Do As I Say uncovers not only Al Gore's hypocrisy, but also the hypocrisy of other liberals like Michael Moore, Hillary Clinton, Noam Chomsky, The Kennedys and George Soros."

"Hypocrites come in all shapes and sizes. And when it comes to politics, hypocrisy is just part of the game. But the press only tends to cover half the story. For decades, the American people have benefited from the media's meticulous investigation of hypocrisy among conservative leaders. Meanwhile, liberal hypocrisy gets a free pass. But not anymore."

Stephen Hicks explains the underlying Leftist authoritarianism, the environmentalists' anti humanism and statists' collectivism. It was always lurking at the bottom of the pond. As liberalism wanes, soon we shall see the other side of the progressive mindset.

"In a film that will forever change how we see America and its leaders, filmmakers Nicholas Tucker and Lucas Abel take us on an unforgettable journey through a political landscape filled with hypocrites and humbugs. Along the way, they reveal a disturbing national truth: that the two-faced mantra “do as I say, not as I do” has become the unwritten golden rule of some of our most prominent liberal leaders."

Book Review: How to Live and Survive Among the Left (Updated)

I'm reposting this because I just found a very spirited and entertaining interview that City Journal's Contributing Editor, Stefan Kanfer had with the author. It can be viewed on C-Span's Book TV After Words. Enjoy!

City Journal: "I Can’t Believe I’m Sitting Next to A Republican"

A Survival Guide For Conservatives Marooned Among the Angry Smug and Terminally Self Righteous, by Harry Stein
With biting wit and amusing personal anecdotes, Harry Stein’s “I Can’t Believe I’m Sitting Next to a Republican” chronicles the everyday travails and triumphs of the plucky conservatives marooned in the liberal bastions that loathe them, from Manhattan to Hollywood, to all the noxious places in between.

Surrounded by the insufferably smug and self righteous – from the angry old lady with the anti-war sign affixed to her walker to the random jerk at a dinner party quoting George Soros – these intrepid souls live in a hostile world; knowing that anytime a neighbor chances to learn their views on affirmative action, big government, feminism, the environment, abortion, multi-culturalism, sex education, the reliability of The New York Times, the scariness of evangelicals or (fill in the blank), his/her face will register stunned surprise and deep confusion. Or worse. (...) >>>
